Salacca / Snake Fruit

There are more than 30 varieties of Salacca, which is native to Indonesia in Southeast Asia. Salacca, also known as snake fruit, yingan, salak, sala and salaka, is fig-shaped and has a brown skin resembling snake skin. This is exactly why it is also called snake fruit!

The flavor of salacca, which looks like a deadly grenade, is just as amazing. Usually, the flesh of this delicious fruit, which has a pineapple-apple aroma, is slightly acidic and leaves that slight tingling sensation on your tongue that you feel when you consume citrus fruits. The flesh is divided into three parts and has a creamy spongy texture.
